Lunches

Our School follows a healthy-eating policy, producing tasty, nutritious meals that are lovingly prepared by our School Cook every day from the freshest, highest quality and locally sourced produce.

Meals are produced in our Thornton Watlass kitchen and then delivered to Snape every day, which is only a 5 minute trip, using thermal containers. Menus follow a three week cycle, allowing children to become familiar with the food severed and are changed every term to reflect the seasons. The menu options are sent out at the beginning of each term and parents are asked to complete a form, pre-ordering for the whole term.

Our lunches are nutritionally balanced and produced freshly from only:

  • Fresh meat and poultry sourced from the region;
  • Fruit and vegetables sourced regionally where possible using local suppliers;
  • Products free from additives associated with health problems in young children;
  • Fats free from hydrogenated oils.

The dinners are free for children in Reception, Year One and Year Two.  For all other pupils, a two-course meal is £2.50 and will be added to our Parent Pay system if applicable.

Jacket potatoes with cheese, beans or tuna or paninis are also offered each day as an alternative menu option.

If parents prefer, children may bring in a packed lunch in a named lunch box. Please support us in our effort to teach children the importance of eating healthily and provide a well-balanced meal. As we are a ‘healthy school’, we ask you not to put sweets, chocolates and fizzy drinks in lunch boxes.

Please do not hesitate to contact the school office should you need to make a menu change during the term. We will, however, endeavour to do our best to notify you should your child not enjoy an item on the menu over a continued period of time.

Snacks

Free fruit is available during morning playtime for children in Year 2 and below. Free milk is available for all children under 5. If you wish your child to continue with milk following their 5th birthday, this can be arranged so please ask staff for details.

Water is always available from the cool water machine and drinks fountains at both sites.

School Milk

Allowing children access to milk:

In order to comply with government standards, we allow children in all year groups to access the milk scheme. Parents can register and make payment for their children by simply registering online at www.coolmilk.com/promote, which is applicable to all children who want to continue to have milk on a daily basis, following their 5th birthday. Please ensure you register the milk at which your child is based, not to the site they are registered to.

All children under 5 are entitled to free milk and the school will complete this process for you.

Allowing free milk access for children entitled to statutory free school meals:

For children entitled to statutory free school meals, they are also entitled to a free daily serving of milk. Please inform us should you wish your child to receive this.

If you have any further queries regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact the Cool Milk dedicated team directly on 0844 5572 237 or via www.coolmilk.com.
