Most children attend school from the Autumn term starting in the September following their fourth birthday. From the preceding Easter, we begin the transition process, which includes opportunities for the children to visit school, school staff visiting children in their nursery settings, open days and parent information evenings. If your child does not currently attend our nursery setting, then we do offer transition days during June and July where all of the children have the opportunity to come to school and experience all aspects of school life. We have found that by investing in the transition process in the Summer term, children are ready and well-prepared to start school in September.
Admission applications are made to North Yorkshire County Council, who then allocate places, advising school and parents in the April prior to starting school.
If you are considering taking a school place at Snape Community and Thornton Watlass CE Primary Schools, you are warmly invited to visit us, meet the team and see our unique approach to learning.
