Physical Education

At Snape and Thornton Watlass schools we would like all pupils to be confident and physically active and promote a healthy active lifestyle.

Students take part in regular PE sessions which are complimented by 4 evenings of extracurricular sports sessions and a lunchtime club. These regular sessions provide students with the opportunity to develop confidence, keep fit and active and also enjoy physical activity.  Physical Education at STW has a focus on learning new skills and developing existing ones whilst taking part in energetic enjoyable lessons.

Students at Snape work hard on developing their fundamental skills, whilst those students at Thornton Watlass focus on indoor and outdoor PE developing skills and techniques and also trying to apply them. The aim is through PE sessions that children will find a pathway into a sport they wish to take up outside of school.

Over the year STW aim to participate in a variety of school games activities, this year due to Covid we have entered a few virtual games activities:

Archery (year3/4) North Yorkshire Champions

Kurling (year 5/6) North Yorkshire Runners up

Extracurricular clubs at STW are growing, we have a great take up for sports clubs 4 days a week. With children participating in activities such as archery, Kurling, tennis, football, gymnastics, tag rugby and multi-skills.
