About Our Schools
The Federation was established in 2011, joining together two small rural primary schools: Snape Community Primary School and Thornton Watlass Church of England Primary School. The schools are geographically very close, situated within 3 miles of each other, in the beautiful North Yorkshire Dales – an enviable environment for your children’s education. They retain the advantages of being small rural primary schools, but also benefit from the advantages of being part of a bigger organisation.
Snape Site - Sunflowers Class
Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children are taught together on our Snape site by an EYFS and KS1 teacher and teaching assistant, all with considerable experience. When you enter Snape School, you will immediately notice a vibrant, purposeful learning environment, comprising of a well-resourced classroom, a focused learning area, a hall, and a spacious outdoor learning and play area.
Thornton Watlass Site - Owls & Red Kites Classes
Children in Years 2 - 6 are organised in to two classes: Owls (Years 2 and 3) and Red Kites (Years 4, 5 and 6). Each class benefits from support from experienced teaching assistants. Our school is set within beautiful, extensive grounds, which have been developed to include a large playing field, climbing areas and an outdoor performance platform. We enjoy Forest School activities each week, and regular visits from specialist teachers and local church representatives.
