  • Daffodil Walk with Sunflowers

    Wed 25 Mar 2020
Last week, whilst the Sunflowers were busy painting pictures of daffodils in vases for their Mother's Day cards, Lizzie asked if daffodils have leaves. We planned an adventure to find out! On Friday, the children went for a walk through Snape (observing social distancing) to look at all the beautiful daffodils in the village. We also called in at Snape Chapel to say a little prayer and look at the stained glass windows. This was a very special walk for staff and children alike. ❤️

  • World Book Day 2020

    Wed 11 Mar 2020
Our pupils celebrated World Book Day by creating their own 'book in a box' models.  The older children used a range of materials to create the scenery and characters.  The younger children then retold the story whilst animating the tiny figures.
  • Tag Rugby

    Wed 11 Mar 2020

    Report by Ben J...

On 28th February, Snape & Thornton Watlass and Kell Bank attended a Tag Rugby tournament at Bedale High School.  The team was Ben (Captain), Harry, Hector, Abbie, Jamie, William, Jennifer, Oliver, Romany, Bridget.  They won three out of four matches in the group stage, which meant they got to the semi-final but unfortunately lost to Bedale Primary.  The weather conditions were horrible but everyone worked really well as a team.

  • Adventures at Bewerley Park

    Wed 11 Mar 2020

    Report by Jennifer and Olivia...

On Tuesdays, Years 5 and 6 have been visiting Bewerley Park to do fun activities.  Last week, we went canoeing.  We went to a big lake with an island in the middle.  First we had to lift and move all of  the canoes.  Once we had finished moving them, we got a big wooden pole and strapped it  between two canoes to join them together.  Then we got two canoes in the water,  waded in with our paddles and got in our seats.  Once we were ready, we set off.  We had to do a 'driving test' to see how good we were on the water.  We all did really well and got told to go further and reach the other side of the island.  When we got there, we found a sheltered spot and we had to get up and dance in the canoes!  It was very wobbly but nobody fell in.  We had some races and a competition to collect balls which were thrown in the water.  It was really good fun!

  • Why Can't We Have Chocolate For Breakfast?

    Thu 05 Mar 2020

The Sunflowers made a wonderful start to their 'Why can't I have chocolate for breakfast?' topic, by inviting their parents to a big breakfast event.  The children took orders (using phonics knowledge) and served their parents some delicious food.  They have linked their topic to maths by baking bread and flapjack this week.

  • Red Kites or Rowdy Romans

    Thu 05 Mar 2020

To start our 'I am Warrior' topic, Red Kites enjoyed a morning of drama.  The children learned how to march like the Roman Army and then re-enacted the first invasion of Julius Caesar in 55BC.  They also imagined how the Celts would have reacted to the sight of the invading Romans.  The children were really enthusiastic Romans... we have some real acting talent here!  Ask them to explain to you what 'Sinister, Dexter, Sinister, Dexter Parati! ' means.
