A huge thank you to the team from North Yorkshire Police, who came in this afternoon to start a mini police course for our year 5 and 6 pupils. Over the next 10 weeks, they will learn all about what it what it takes to be a police officer, and how to be a good citizen. Today they took their oath and were sworn into the Mini Police scheme. 

Another fantastic session for our mini police officers this afternoon. They were out and about on foot patrol around Thornton Watlass, making sure everything was in order and if any tickets needed issuing. The team found out tickets can be issued for such things as littering, riding bikes on the pavement and not picking up your dog's poo. 

We had another fabulous Mini Police session today at Thornton Watlass. We found out how a court case runs, and what the names are of the people who work in courts. We then ran through a few court cases, with the children taking on different roles, always making sure we addressed the Judge correctly so as not to get in more trouble!

As many of you may know our year 5 and 6 have undertaken weekly 'mini police' workshops with PCSO Heather and colleagues. Today, we had an extra visitor Jax (a cocker spaniel) who is a small working police dog who detects digital electronics. "We watched Jax sniff out electronics that his trainer hid around our school hall, he found them and was then rewarded with his clicker and a tugging on his ball on a rope! Sam explained. "It was really interesting, as I love dogs!" Liliana exclaimed.
